Writer's Block Holds You Back? 4 Easy Content Creation Steps to Overcome It

Hate writing, but love views? What's new?! Nothing will hold you back with these content creation steps.

What if I told you crafting good stories can be easier than you think? That is, if you have the right method. I’ll share 4 content creation steps that turn this into a breeze.

4 content creation steps to overcome writer's block

When you start your content creation process, put yourself in these different roles.

#1 content creation step: artist

Define topics you want to cover. These are your wide topics or visions. Now, pull out the rabbits aka ideas inside these topics. Next, focus on this 1 idea.

You can treat it as your main character or elephant in the room. It's the thing everyone can see, it's large and obvious. It's a clear statement of the problem which signifies where your story is headed.

#2 content creation step: constructor

Just like when building a house, your content doesn’t pop out of nowhere. Structure your content and define 3-5 key bullet points to deliver your idea.

How to get to these points? Treat them as questions that may arise when you try to describe your main idea. These will be your chapters.

#3 content creation step: writer

Use the bullet points or chapters and connect the dots with your story. Ask yourself what your goal is and how you’ll get there.

The road should never be steady, always up and down. Either move towards or away from your goal. Progress or regress until the final payoff to keep up the tension. The result of this stage is your copy.

#4 content creation step: magician

Now that you’ve completed writing, sprinkle in “aha” moments that make your audience awe or feel smart - whatever emotion you want to spark. You can use stunning stories, educational or unbelievable facts, or crazy visuals here.

How to unleash your creative process?

Let me wrap up with some encouraging words from the famous music producer, Rick Rubin, "Treat your creation as a diary entry."

Rubin says that we never know what other people like, and it's foolish of us to think that we do. His artistic view is that if we like our work, it is enough. We shouldn't second-guess ourselves, because if we know when something is good, that's all that matters. And nothing else.

His advice on overcoming the writer's block is to take a break and zoom out. Go for a walk, a run, take a swim, etc. Change your environment to free your mind. We are mere conduits to channel the universe's creation. If we're stuck, we should stop fighting it and return to our creative process when the time is right.
