Would You Be Open to Try Content Creation Hacks That Change Your Success Forever?

Most people get stuck in their comfort zone. But that will never bring new results.

So, if you're looking to grow your brand, there are proven methods to set your content apart. Here are 3 content creation hacks to put success on repeat.

#1 Content Creation Hack: Experiment With Formats

Here’s the deal. Are you a Colbert or Corden?

They're the most famous late night TV show hosts. But there's one huge difference... The way they approach content creation. Is it a:

  • talk show (Stephen Colbert) or;
  • variety show (James Corden).
Corden is known for his endless entertainment formats. From Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk Musical to Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts (the modern truth or dare). Not every format has been a banger - far from it! But continuous experimenting has clearly shown which have the most potential.

So, who are you?

  • Do you rely on one format or experiment with many?
  • Do you try, fail, and get back up?
  • Do you know which format is working for your audience?
  • Do you learn from success and repeat what's working?
  • Do you constantly seek new audiences?

You need to experiment! You might fail, but you’ll be 3 steps ahead and way smarter than those who opted for the comfort zone. That is what James Corden represents.

Moral of the story: be a variety show.

Kick off you experiment with a content inventory. Make a list of which content formats you create and what does your audience like.

To find your answer, try out different content formats on blog and social media: deep dives, interviews, explanations, tutorials, case studies, white papers, videos, polls, infographics, checklists, FAQ sheets, calculators, comparisons & battlecards, "best ofs", challenges, etc.

It's a surefire way to become more of a variety show, entertain, and reach more people.

Here's a pro tip.

In another blog post, I talked about brainstorming in formats. This is it in its purest form. To make it easier, don't forget to keep a structure and brainstorm in formats. Here's my template to help you kick this off. Try it out and let me know how you get on!

#2 Content Creation Hack: Turn Outliers Into Series

Now that you've experimented with formats, you'll find out which of your content hits. Based on your audience engagement and reach, you can see what matters to them the most. Analyse which formats perform the best to find your outliers.

Turn your best-performing content into a series. Let's say you tried challenges for the first time and this format performed surprisingly well. You should think what type of topics you can cover in this format.

For example, take up weekly or monthly challenges to try out some product or service in your niche. Each week, you can have new contestants.

#3 Content Creation Hack: Access New Audiences

How certain are you that if you keep using the same approach, you'll get new audiences? If you want more views, you need to widen your scope.

Getting trapped in an existing segment is the biggest limit to our success. It’s easy to get stuck in our comfort topics and formats. It might please our existing audience, but it's not the way to grow.

Turn it around and unlock new markets for your brand. Here's a clue if you want to grow: go from niche to general.

With your next content piece, write down what value you'll provide to the following audience segments:

  • fans - your true believers and followers;
  • random - people in your industry who haven't come across your brand, but have general industry knowledge;
  • new - people who haven't heard of you at all.

Define the key problem and cover it for all audience types. Try it out and see what happens.
