Copy-Paste Never Works in Content Creation! Steal Like an Artist

Have you ever come across a banger piece of content and wondered, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

But hold on, copy-pasting will never get your content the views you deserve. I’ll let you in on a 3-step process on how to steal like an artist in content creation.

Why won’t copying other brands’ ideas work for me?

If you’re just trying to make something the same way, you’ll never be able to get their audience. They are a huge step ahead of you, because they’ve spent years on building that audience. By repeating them, you’ll always be a backmarker.

So, what should I do?

Think of why you are unique. What’s the unique value you bring to your audience?

What if I told you there’s a smart way to unpack this…

It’s called innovation. Innovation is packaging old things in a new way. It’s combining familiar things to create something different, something new.

To do that, you can draw inspiration from… Well, anywhere.

Here are 3 types of sources how to make any idea yours:

  • reactive - based on a database of sources, from news to social media sites. Look what’s hot in traditional media;
  • active - based on exciting conversations or experiences with exceptional humans;
  • repetitive - define what you like and add your layer to it.

To make it easier, make sure you keep a structure and brainstorm in these 3 idea types. My ideation process template will help you kick this off.

I won’t leave you high and dry!

Here’s an example. A few months ago, the Oscars were handed out.

Why not use it as your inspiration? Why don’t you hand out your own Oscars? Define your customer's problem and nominate the best solutions that solve it. Don't oversell yourself, but educate the audience. Position yourself as the industry expert.

Here’s another tip: you could even ask your audience and hand out an Oscar for the fans’ favourite. This will definitely win them over.

What if I told you these minor changes in how you create content can explode your brand?
